Concrete mixers can be divided into two main types because of difference of working principles: one is compulsory concrete mixer, and another one is drum concrete mixer. The two different concrete mixers have different usage characteristics and scope of application. As two different types of concrete mixers, they have the following differences:
Compulsory Concrete Mixer
The compulsory concrete mixer belongs to the concrete mixer for engineering which include twin-shaft compulsory central concrete mixer. The large shaft of drum of compulsory concrete mixer is equipped with mixing arms and mixing blades. When the large mixing shaft rotates, the blades continuously stir and mix the materials. The mixing effect of the compulsory concrete mixer is stronger than the drum concrete mixer. It is suitable for mixing dry hard concrete and light aggregate concrete, and it can also mix fluid concrete. Usually, it comes with PLD series batching machine, even though a small twin-shaft compulsory central concrete mixer. The production capacity of drum concrete mixers (drum mixers) is lower than compulsory concrete mixers. The compulsory concrete mixer has the advantages of good mixing quality, fast mixing speed, high production efficiency, simple and convenient operation, and safety. However, the mechanical parts are severely worn, and high-strength alloy steel or other wear-resistant materials are generally used as internal material, which are mostly used in centralized concrete batching plants.
Drum Concrete Mixer
Drum concrete mixer is kind of civil family concrete mixer. This kind of mixer relies on the rotation of the mixing tank to raise the internal concrete to the upper part of the tank, and then fall down, so that it is continuously circulated and mixed. The mixing drum is placed vertically. With the rotation of the mixing drum, the concrete mixture is stirred in a free-falling manner in the mixing drum, so as to achieve the purpose of mixing. Drum concrete mixers are generally not used with concrete batching machines, even large size drum concrete mixers. The drum concrete mixer productivity is not as large as the compulsory concrete mixer in exactly same model. For example, the output production of JZC500 only has 20 cubic meters per hour, and the output production of JS500 has more than 25 cubic meters per hour. The drum and blades of the mixer are less worn and easy to clean, but the power consumption is large and the efficiency is low. This mixer mainly uses the weight of the material in the mixing drum to work, which saves energy. However, due to the influence of material adhesion and friction, the mixing process has a greater wear on aggregate, which has a negative impact on the quality of the concrete, so the drum concrete mixer is gradually being replaced by the compulsory concrete mixer.
